My Role Models: Audrey Hepburn

I’ve been writing quite a bit about role models. I got an idea to write about my personal role models – especially women that have made an impact on me. (But maybe also some men and maybe cartoon characters too, later…)

I was just thinking about the women that age beautifully and Audrey came to my mind. It made me think, how I respect her as an actor, woman and human being. First when one thinks about A.H. style comes to ones mind. Then follows her kind personality,  her beautiful behaviour, her modesty and her efforts for UNICEF and children.

Audrey worked whit African children, when it was yet to be made popular and modish by Jolie-Pitt and Madonna. She was UNICEF ambassador and left behind a fund (founded 1994) of her own.

“Anyone who doesn’t believe in miracles isn’t a realist.
UNICEF performs realistic miracles every day.”

Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday (public domain). She was still visiting Somalia just 3 ½ months before she died. Her mission was to save and help children whit the aid she gathered during last five years of her life.

One important factor that makes Audrey my particular role model is that she was rather tall woman (5’7″ /170cm) , especially at her time in the years after the war. That is said to be the reason she preferred the ballerina-shoes that became almost her trademark. Yet she carried her height with grace in the true ballerina manner whit an excellent  posture and she did not appear clumsy nor huge.

  1. Oh, she’s also such a fashion icon for all the modern fashionistas. One book dedicated to her was a massive hit last Christmas.

  2. Yes I know she is fashion icon, but I wanted to write about her other side – about other things she was also. And why she is my role model.

  3. I was searching for this kind of a blog for months now. Actually lost the hope of finding one, but here i am 🙂 Thanks for the great articles! Looking forward for a little read after dinner 🙂

  4. Glad you liked it. You’re welcome back.

  5. Thanks! this is so helpful, she is such a good role model for all women today. She went through some tough times between the war and her parents divorcing, yet she did not give up. She pursued her dream of acting and did not get into any bad stuff like drugs, these days, many starlets have been arrested. I am doing a speech on why she is such a good role model for all girls today, she is a very impectiable women. If there is any more information you have that would be awesome. Thanks
