About Blog

This is my letter to the world,
That never wrote to me,–
The simple news that Nature told,
With tender majesty.
Her message is committed
To hands I cannot see;
For love of her, sweet countrymen,
Judge tenderly of me!

– Emily Dickinson –

This blog (started 18.01.2007) is partly about my life as a thirty something spinster with its ups and downs, toughs and incidents. Sometimes funny and sometimes serious, always real. Partly it is about my thoughts about single life and relationships between men and women. By writing them down, I try to learn about life and relationships, and promote some discussion on these issues, if possible.

I live in the city in small studio, where seems never be enough space, what for it seems always messy. I work 9 to 5 in customer service. I have friends and one would think I would get enough society by talking all day with people, but it still feels lonely to return in my empty apartment. It does not even feel home by myself.

Yet mostly I am happy and enjoy life. I try to get out of my apartment as much as I can. Single life can occasionally be rather challenging. There are obstacles couples don’t run in to. And there is the occasionally very boring and occasionally vivid love-life too.

What to Write and Why?
(The following text was originally published in first blogging: January 18th 2007).
Professor told Jo in Good Wives to write about something she knows about. That is forever good advice and I am going to follow it in this blog.

What I truly know about is my life as a spinster for last ten years more or less. I know a lot about the life of my fellow spinsters (many of my friends) too, although may be some of them would like to call them selves singles.

I write for therapeutic reasons: because I sometimes regret deeply my single status and its consequences and wonder why I have not been able to couple up with some nice guy. At those moments (happily quite few) it is nice to vent ones feelings somewhere and this blog is quite safe place.

I also write, because I wan’t to ease my lonely feeling (in reality I am not lonely) by sharing things with others. I also love telling stories and writing in general, so this is kind of fulfilment of my self-expression need.
